Asteroids are near-Earth Objects (NEO). These are rocky objects revolving around the Sun. They mostly revolve in the asteroid belt which lies between Mars and Jupiter. Some asteroids revolve on planetary paths. Plantry path means that both the asteroid and plant have the same path around the sun. Wormwood asteroid
Asteroids are rocky objects. They are considered as the rocks formed during the formation of the solar system. The explosion and impact are believed to occur 4.6 billion years back as per the Big Bang Theory hypothesis. These asteroids can be as small as pebbles and can be larger than planets. They expected to be made of elements like Nickel, Iron, and sometimes clay.
The space institutes inform us that there have been a few asteroids that have entered the Earth’s atmosphere in the last few decades. These asteroids were not able to cause harm because of our natural protector, the atmosphere. The various layers of our dense atmosphere rest in the burning down of these asteroids into ashes.
There are predictions made by NASA, related to future visits of asteroids to the planet. Among them, one of the famous asteroids is 99942 Apophis, or the asteroid.
Asteroid Apophis or Wormwood Asteroid
99942 Apophis or asteroid was first discovered in the year 2004 by 3 scientists of NASA, Roy A. Tucker, David J. Tholen, and Fabrizio Bernardi. The asteroid turned out to be changing its orbital pathways and expected to hit Earth.
It is an NEO that has having diameter of about 370m or 1,210 feet. This asteroid has set the record of marking the highest level at the Torino scale. The Tornio scale is a machine used to categorize the impact of near-Earth Objects. The asteroid marks a Level 4 at the Torino scale. On 27, December 2004.
it is potentially the most hazardous asteroid, having an expectation to hit the Earth. This is the reason it is named as Apophis. Apophis is the Egyptian God of darkness and problems.
It is expected to have a brightness diameter of 450m. This was observed by the spectroscopic telescope by NASA at the Infrared Telescope Facility.
// Reformulating Pathways by Wormwood Asteroid
1. 1st change in orbital pathway
There are many reasons for concern related to the Wormwood asteroid. One of these is its continuity in reformulating its orbit. 6 months after its discovery in June 2004, scientists observed the asteroid change its pathway reaching the possibility of being close to Earth by 37%. this possibility of an increase in the approach was calculated by NASA sentry, an impact predicting mechanism.
2. 2nd change in the orbital pathway
From 2005 to 2011, the asteroid started to gain more attention. Its increasing probability of impact was because of its irregular orbiting pattern. The former astronaut of the Apollo mission showed concern due to the orbital resonance of the asteroid. On January 31, 2011, the first picture of the asteroid was taken in the 3 years.
3. 3rd change in the orbital pathway
From 2013 to 2015 the asteroid has been continuously changing its pathway. On 9th June 2013, it took the orbit that predicted the close approach of an asteroid by the year 2036. This is a relief for the scientists as the closest approach has shifted from 2019 to 2036.
observation made in the year 2015, predicate the approach of the wormwood asteroid to be shifted again. As the asteroid has been continuously changing its orbital pathway.
4. 4th change in the orbital pathway
Regular observations were started to be done from year 2020 to 2021. The observation informed about the increase in acceleration of the asteroid. This increase is due to the Yorkovsky effect. This is the continuous explosion to reaction in gases. This improves the closet approach of 2029 prediction.
Wormwood Asteroid in the Bible
As per the book of Revelations, which talks about the apocalypse of the Earth, a prophecy of a star hitting the planet Earth has been made.
Revelation 8:10-11
“The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water—the name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.”
As per this prophecy as the end days arrive a star will blaze brightness with strike the water bodies of the planet making it poisonous and bitter for humans. This is the reason that the asteroid has been named a wormwood asteroid as it predicts destruction.
Many scientists considered the wormwood asteroid to be the one mentioned in the Bible. Whether is it true or not is still debatable.
The scientists claim that the observation has made clear that the asteroid will not hit the Earth.
Reason for the Name of The Asteroid
The asteroid has been named Apophis as well as wormwood asteroid. Both the names given have their reason. The former name, Apophis is the name of the Egyptian God of darkness and chaos. As per the Egyptian texts, the main aim of the Apophis god was to cover the Earth in darkness and end the light. The asteroid was predicted to cause the same havoc on the Earth and, therefore was named an Apophis asteroid.
Another name for the asteroid is Wormwood asteroid. This name is given concerning the Bible prophecy. The prophecy was made in the Book of Revelation by the apostle John, saying that at the end of days, a blazing star will strike the water bodies of the Earth changing it to taste like wormwood. The brightness of the asteroid seemed to fulfill the blazing reference in the Bible. Thus the name was given to asteroid.
Cessation
As science can only predict the future on the information received it is starting to believe the consequences. The research is still going on. Numerous scientists are working on the wormwood asteroid. Different methods are being developed to protect the Earth from the asteroid. There is always something new to occur in the outer world every second. With improvements in the technologies, more information can be collected. A better mechanism can built for future research.
